What started out as experimental attempts at recreating childhood favourite snacks, Doe Donuts has morphed into its own being of extravagant flavour and design.
Living abroad in Bondi, owners Shenine and Grace found themselves recreating cultural flavours from home, which quickly spiralled out of control with the pair stuffing anything they could find into leftover dough and deep frying it.
The pair returned home to Auckland to bring their foodie dream to life. Initially running their business online and having small market stalls around Auckland since 2017, visiting Doe Donuts in Grey Lynn today you’ll find a bricks-and-mortar site painted the team’s eye-popping, signature pink.
Inside, the majority of fillings have been made from scratch, in-house. Using only the highest quality, locally sourced ingredients, Doe Donuts are whipping up their own caramel, marshmallow, custard, crumbles and jams to be synthesised into mouth-watering creations. They have over forty flavours and change what is on offer weekly — their regulars are always on the lookout for their favourites.
In the summer you’ll find fruity, lighter flavours compared to winter which naturally requires more decadent, comfort flavours. Grab yourself a coffee and park in by the sunny front window for your morning break.
