The Opportunity:

We're seeking a talented and creative Baker to join our Auckland team and play a pivotal role in expanding our food offering across our café locations. This is a unique opportunity to have significant creative input while working in your own dedicated baking space with a supportive, collaborative team.

Working Monday to Friday, you'll produce fresh baked goods daily for our Auckland cafés while also creating our signature biscotto for nationwide distribution to all Allpress cafés.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Creation & Development

  • Produce high-quality baked goods daily for Auckland café locations

  • Develop innovative recipes that keep us competitive and current with market trends

  • Create seasonal product rotations including specialty items (mince pies, hot cross buns, etc.)

  • Design and produce quarterly biscotto seasonal flavour rotations while maintaining core flavours

  • Oversee large-scale biscotto production for nationwide wholesale distribution

Operations & Quality Management

  • Ensure café cabinets remain fully stocked with diverse, premium products seven days a week

  • Manage ingredient sourcing, stock control, and delivery coordination

  • Establish and maintain consistent weekly production schedules

  • Implement efficient distribution systems between locations

  • Work with the National Hospitality Manager on product costings to achieve high margins

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Support and train new baking staff across Auckland locations

  • Share expertise with café teams through knowledge transfer

  • Collaborate with national and global hospitality teams on recipe development

  • Communicate production schedules and product availability effectively

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain rigorous food safety standards and HACCP principles

  • Conduct temperature monitoring and maintain accurate compliance records

  • Implement allergen control procedures and prevent cross-contamination

  • Oversee cleaning and sanitization schedules for all baking equipment

  • Ensure all health and safety documentation is current and accurate


About You:

Essential

  • Proven experience as a Baker with strong technical skills

  • Creative mindset with ability to develop innovative products

  • Strong understanding of food costing and margin management

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety standards and HACCP principles

  • Team player with strong communication skills

  • Commitment to quality and consistency

Desirable

  • Experience in café or wholesale bakery environments

  • Product development and recipe creation experience

  • Understanding of seasonal product planning
