We exist to transform everyday coffee moment into something exceptional. It’s been three decades since Allpress set up their first independent coffee cart, buying a second-hand roaster and embarking on a bold entrepreneurial journey fueled by passion and the search for great flavour. Our little coffee cart helped introduce specialty coffee to New Zealand and changed the drinking habits of a nation. Today, we roast coffee for some of the best independent cafés in the world.
About the role
We’re searching for an influential Head of Brand & Design to act as the global custodian for Allpress and Underground (New Zealand).This role leads the strategic and creative vision for our brands — guiding storytelling, design, and communication to bring our values and brand pillars to life. You’ll partner closely with regional teams to ensure a globally consistent yet locally relevant brand that builds awareness, loyalty, and commercial growth through exceptional café experiences.It’s an opportunity to weave our commitment to quality, community, and sustainability into every interaction — ensuring our identity is authentic, distinctive, and unmistakable across every market, channel, and experience worldwide. Key Responsibilities:
Global Brand Governance:
Develop and execute integrated brand and marketing strategies, campaigns, and communications that build impactful experiences and reinforce our values and culture. Ensure global consistency with local relevance across all markets and channels. Oversee all partnerships, creative expression, brand tools, governance, and manage the central brand budget.
Hospitality & Spatial Experience:
Lead the complete brand experience across our 'Spiritual Homes' (cafés). You will be responsible for defining the look, feel, and function of these spaces. Oversee new site frameworks, site refreshes, menus, and the coffee program to ensure a consistent, exceptional delivery of global hospitality guidelines that drive growth and deep customer connection.
Wholesale support:
Drive customer loyalty and retention by enhancing brand value, leading communications for Allpress and Underground, and generating new wholesale enquiries. Combine creativity and entrepreneurial thinking with data-driven insights to inform decisions and deliver meaningful customer experiences.
Team Leadership:
Authentic leadership, coaching, and mentoring of our graphic designers whilst supporting our regional brand teams. Foster a culture of high performance, strong commercial acumen, and cross-functional collaboration.
Performance & Insights:
Track, measure, and report on brand health metrics to inform strategic decision-making and identify opportunities for partnerships, collaborations and activations.
About you
You are an experienced, values-led leader with the commercial acumen to link brand strategy directly to business outcomes.
7+ years' experience in senior brand, marketing, or communication roles.
Proven track record of building and executing brand strategies across multiple markets (ideally global or multi-market).
Strength in creative direction, brand identity, and design oversight, with experience leading creative teams and managing external agencies.
Confidence leading hospitality, spatial, or experiential brand environments (physical spaces).
Experience building integrated communications and content strategies across owned, earned, and paid channels.
Exceptional people leader, coach, and mentor with strong stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing at all levels.
Nice to Have:
Background in food, beverage, or lifestyle brands.
Experience working with wholesale or B2B customer bases.
Familiarity with the coffee supply chain from origin through to café operation.
