If you haven’t heard of Yungaburra, you’re probably not alone.
But if you do find yourself in Far North Queensland, you’ll be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn’t heard of Burra Bakehouse.
Locals and childhood friends Laura and Lisa are behind it; both raised here, both bringing a genuine sense of care to the space to give back to their community. It’s relaxed, inviting, and rarely empty. The kind of spot where one coffee turns into two, usually alongside something fresh from the oven. The sourdough is a standout (worth taking a loaf home, or two), joined by a lineup of pastries made with quality local ingredients.
There’s a certain polish to the place, something that wouldn’t be out of place in a city café. But Burra has a certain character that only comes from a quality country bakery.
Well worth a visit if you’re ever passing through on a trip up North.
