Fresh off the plane from San Francisco circa 2005, Claire never imagined the small one-day-a-week stall she started on Broadway Market would evolve into one of London’s most celebrated artisan bakeries.
The Bakery itself holds a special presence nestled in the heart of Wilton way. Claire was inspired by the Prada Marfa installation in Texas, and has incorporated a minimalist but happy and welcoming feel into every aspect of the space itself. Talking about how she keeps Violet fresh and relevant, she mentions she never loses sight of why she started it in the first place. She simply wanted great cakes, great coffee and a place she would want to go herself. By keeping quality first and foremost, it’s safe to say she has well and truly exceeded her original goals.
When next in East London, Violets is well worth making a priority visit. A personal favourite of the Allpress Dalston team is the chocolate caramel rum cake with salted caramel butter cream – it’s a bit of a life changer.
