Mini Q : Experience what it takes to be a certified Q Grader

Hey Auckland, join us for an evening exploring the nuances of specialty coffee, and you could be going home with a brand new Moccamaster.

Immerse yourself in the world of coffee tasting and discover what it takes to be a Certified Q Grader! Whether you’re a coffee lover, home brewer, or just curious about the coffee industry, this is a unique opportunity to deepen your appreciation for the perfect cup of coffee.

Certified Q Graders are professionals skilled in sensory evaluation of green coffee. The ability to grade coffee is a necessary skill for many jobs in the industry.

Join us on Wednesday 29 May to get a taste of the Q Grader exam. Test your senses and learn how professionals evaluate coffee quality.

From 4:30pm and into the evening, we're exploring three key sections of the Q Grader exam:

Sensory Skills
Can you identify and arrange different intensities of salty, sour, and sweet flavours? Challenge your taste buds and see how you measure up!

Olfactory Skills
Put your nose to the test by identifying key aromas found in coffee. Discover the scents that make each coffee unique.

Triangulation
Find the odd one out among three coffee cups. It’s a fun and engaging way to sharpen your coffee-tasting skills!

Grand Prize
Show off your skills with accuracy and speed, and you could win a Moccamaster — the ultimate home-brewing coffee maker. There'll also be fantastic spot prizes from our friends at La Marzocco!

Whether you’re participating or just watching, this event promises to be an experience to remember. There'll be drinks and nibbles available too – a great chance to connect with the coffee community!
